Pricing
A diagnostic fee of $89 covers the visit and the diagnosis, and it is waived when you approve the repair.
What a visit costs before any work
- Diagnostic fee
- $89
Waived if you approve the repair on the day, so it costs you nothing when we fix the fault. If you decline, the fee is what you pay and it is all you pay, and the written fault report is yours to keep and take to another contractor.
- After-hours surcharge
- $150
Applies to work between and , and at weekends. The booking form marks every window that triggers it, before you submit.
- Emergency call-out
- $189
Charged when we dispatch outside dispatch hours. Separate from the after-hours surcharge above, and both can apply to one visit. Emergency service.
- Missed appointment
- $65
Charged if nobody is there when we arrive. Cancel or move with 24 hours notice and there is nothing to pay.
Hourly rates by trade
Used where a job is genuinely time-and-materials rather than a fixed price. The rate is per crew, not per person.
| Trade | Per hour |
|---|---|
| HVAC | $145 |
| Roofing | $135 |
| Construction | $125 |
| Carpentry | $115 |
| Outdoor | $95 |
| Plumbing | $140 |
| Electrical | $155 |
Typical range by trade
What most jobs in each trade land between, from the smallest repair to the largest project. A range this wide is not evasion: replacing a capacitor and replacing a system are both HVAC.
| Trade | From | To | Services |
|---|---|---|---|
| HVAC | $180 | $12,000 | See hvac services |
| Roofing | $350 | $28,000 | See roofing services |
| Construction | $2,500 | $95,000 | See construction services |
| Carpentry | $400 | $24,000 | See carpentry services |

| Plumbing | $165 | $18,000 | See plumbing services |
| Electrical | $190 | $16,000 | See electrical services |
What moves a price
- How old the equipment is, and whether replacement parts are still manufactured
- How accessible the work area is: a crawlspace or a second-storey roof takes longer than a garage
- Whether a permit and an inspection are required
- Material grade, which on a roof or a deck moves the total more than labour does
- Whether the visit falls outside dispatch hours
How you can pay
Accepted
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
- Discover
- ACH bank transfer
- Financing
Not accepted
- Personal cheques
- Cash payments above $500
Both limits are firm and they apply to every job whatever its size. If neither works for you, tell us before the crew arrives rather than at the door.
Financing is available from $3,000 upwards, which most repairs do not reach. Financing terms.
More on pricing
What a visit costs
Most repair work starts with a diagnostic visit. The fee is $89, it covers the technician's time and a written diagnosis, and it is waived when you approve the repair. You are told the repair price before any work begins, so the diagnosis is the only figure you commit to up front.
Installation, replacement and remodelling work is quoted rather than diagnosed. Those visits carry no diagnostic fee.
After hours
Work carried out between and , and any work on a Sunday, carries an after-hours surcharge of $150 on top of the normal price.
That surcharge is separate from the emergency call-out fee. The call-out fee applies when we dispatch outside dispatch hours, and it is published with the hours it depends on rather than restated here.
Hourly rates by trade
Hourly rates apply to time-and-materials work. Most jobs are quoted as a total instead.

Typical price ranges
These are the ranges most jobs land in, from the smallest service call to a full replacement. They are wide on purpose: a gutter repair and a full roof are both roofing.
