What we collect

Only what a visit needs, and only when you give it to us.

When you book a visit: your name, your phone number, your service address, what is wrong, and optionally an email address, photographs and a preferred window. The address is needed because coverage varies by city and by trade; the description is needed because it decides which crew comes.

When you request an estimate: the same, plus the project type, the scope in your own words, a budget band, a timeline and the property type. Photographs are optional and are the single most useful thing you can send.

When you send a message: your name, whichever of phone or email you give us, and what you wrote.

When you are texted: your mobile number, and whether you have opted out. The SMS Terms cover the messages themselves.

When you visit this site: aggregate analytics about page views and load speed. No advertising pixels, no cross-site trackers, no profile built about you, and no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for a date of birth, a social security number, or a payment card through this website. No form on this site takes a card number. Were payment being taken, it would be handled by the card processor and never touch our systems.

We do not buy contact lists and we do not enrich what you give us from third-party data.

Why we hold it

To turn up at the right address with the right crew, to tell you when we are coming, to quote work, to invoice it, to honour a warranty claim, and to answer you when you ask a question. That is the whole list.

Who else sees it

A submitted form is delivered to our own automation, which notifies the office and records the request. Our messaging carrier processes text messages on our behalf. Our hosting provider processes page requests. Each is contractually barred from using what passes through it for anything of their own.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. If your work involves an insurance claim, we supply documentation to you and you decide what goes to your insurer; we do not send it on your behalf.

How long we keep it

A request that never becomes a visit is kept for twelve months, so we can answer you if you come back to it. A completed job is kept for seven years, because a warranty claim, a tax question or a dispute can arrive years later. Text message records are kept for two years. Analytics are aggregate and hold nothing that identifies you.

Your choices

  • Ask what we hold. Ring the office or email us and we will tell you.
  • Correct it. Same route, and faster than you would expect.
  • Delete it. We will, except where we have to keep a record of work performed.
  • Stop the texts. Reply STOP to any message. Details are in the SMS Terms.
  • Stop the calls. Tell us and we will note it.

North Carolina has no general consumer privacy statute of the kind California and several other states have. We apply the rights above to everyone regardless of where they live, because implementing them twice would be more work than doing it once.

Children

This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.

Security

Submissions travel over TLS. Access to what you send is limited to the people who need it to do the work. We are not going to claim a level of security that a company of this size cannot honestly promise.

A note on this site

Cedarline Home Services is a fictional company used for demos, so nothing described here is actually collected about anybody. The notice is written as though it were, because a demonstration with a placeholder privacy notice would not be demonstrating anything. The terms page sets that out in full.

Contact

Privacy questions go to the office, on the contact page.

Ring the office on +1-919-555-0142 or use the contact page. A person answers during office hours.
