Working in Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill is our only emergency-only city, and the distinction matters more here than anywhere else because people reasonably assume the opposite. It is in the Triangle, it is close, and we cover everything around it. We still do not schedule ordinary work here.

What emergency only actually means

We will come out to Chapel Hill, around the clock, for the eight emergency-eligible services: AC repair, furnace repair, heat pump service, roof repair where a leak is active, leak detection and repair, sump pump service, gas line service, and a panel upgrade where power has been lost entirely. The response target is 120 minutes rather than 90, and the same emergency call-out fee applies as everywhere else. There is no travel fee on top.

What you cannot do is book anything else. No maintenance visits, no tune-ups, no inspections, no installations, no replacements, no projects, no lawn or outdoor programmes, no carpentry, no remodeling. If you ring the office to book a scheduled repair at a Chapel Hill address, we will tell you we cannot take it, and we will try to name someone who can.

Why we do it this way

Emergency work is dispatched from wherever the on-call crew happens to be and is priced to absorb the drive. Scheduled work is routed the evening before into an efficient sequence of stops, and Chapel Hill does not fit that sequence. Adding it would either lengthen every other customer's arrival window or mean quietly missing yours, and neither is acceptable.

Committing to emergencies while declining scheduled work is the honest version of a limit we already have. The alternative, taking the bookings and running late on them, is how contractors end up with a reputation they deserve.

If you are already a customer

If we installed equipment at a Chapel Hill address, the warranty on it stands and we will honour it. Contact the office directly rather than booking online, since the booking system will refuse a scheduled slot at your postcode. We will arrange the visit as an exception, and we would rather handle a handful of those properly than pretend the general rule does not exist.

Local conditions, for when we do come

Orange County is the permitting authority, not Wake or Durham, and it has its own fee schedule and inspection rhythm. That rarely matters on an emergency call but occasionally does on a gas line or a panel.

The town has significant tree cover and a lot of houses tucked into it, which is the main driver of what we get called out for: active roof leaks in autumn once the valleys fill, and power lost on one property while the street stays lit. Parts of Meadowmont and Southern Village sit on ground that holds water, and sump pump failures cluster there in a heavy rain event.

Note also that the 27516 and 27517 zip codes extend beyond the town into Chatham and Orange County addresses that are not Chapel Hill at all. Run the zip lookup and give us the full address, because the coverage answer at the edge of these zips is not always the same as the answer in the middle.
