Wake County, unlike Clayton

Unlike our other partial-coverage city, Fuquay-Varina is in Wake County. Permitting, inspection and fees are the same authority and the same schedule as Raleigh, so anything requiring a permit runs on a timeline we know well. If you have had work done in Raleigh or Cary before, the paperwork here will feel identical.

The housing stock

Fuquay-Varina has grown quickly and unevenly, which makes it more varied than its neighbours. Bentwinds, Sunset Bluffs, South Lakes and Crooked Creek are newer developments in the ordinary lifecycle pattern. The two old town centres, Fuquay and Varina, are genuinely old and quite different in character from anything in Holly Springs or Apex.

Two local conditions come up repeatedly. A good number of properties on the southern and western edges are on private wells and septic systems rather than town services, which constrains where outdoor work can go and makes a standby generator a water supply question as well as a power one. And the outer lots are large and rural in character, which is why outdoor work, fencing, drainage, irrigation and lawn programmes, is a bigger share of what we do here than in any other city we cover.
